This is a great event every year and offers great photo opportunities for photographers of all skill levels. This is worth the trip up into Northern Ontario if only for the day, overnight or the entire weekend. There are so many activities and entertainment to enjoy for the whole family and I guarantee you’ll have a good time. The mushers are easy to approach and talk to and open to having photographs taken. It is also great hiking out onto the trails and waiting for the mushers to come by during the races and get some great photos. Just remember to dress warm, you’ll be sitting a while waiting for that perfect shot. This is a great yearly event and I highly recommend it for everyone. You get the opportunity to meet and socialize with fans from all over the world. If you get the opportunity, I highly recommend the dinner at the Kearney Legion. Great food, wonderful people, and a nice place to socialize.
Kearney is a small community of 800 people, located just north of Huntsville, Ontario. They proudly host the largest dog sled race in Ontario. The races are held every February, drawing teams and mushers from Alaska, Quebec, Manitoba, Ontario and the North-Eastern States. I’m positive you’ll enjoy these pictures I have taken. Also, you can check out the Kearney Dog Sled Races website for more information. It is worth the trip. You may even come across a couple of my photos on the site.
